His Promise still Stands!
Genesis 12: 1-7
12:1 Now the Lord had said to Abram:
Personal Call: Salvation comes because God calls in GRACE and Sinners respond by FAITH…. “John 15:16 “ye have not chosen ME, but I have chosen you”. It’s a personal call we didn’t choose him he chose us.
Many of you are here because GOD called you! And you responded by FAITH…God doesn’t call the qualified He qualifies the called. God sometimes calls the most unlikely. Abraham married Sarah his half sister and they were childless. Yet God used them to birth nations.
Why would God call such an unlikely couple for such an important task?
1Corinthings 1:26- 27… For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are might…
Sarah was Abrahams ½ sister they had the same father, she was 10 years younger than Abraham. They say she was beautiful and tall and model like…. But she was barren… she couldn’t have children… She was a devoted wife, faithful wife, resourceful wife, and also was a persuasive women…
She had to endure some great changes and challenges in her life. They were blessed back home they had. They were popular, with many possessions, their house was probably the nicest one on the block. They had, yet she was willing to follow her husband through the dessert, through the scorching sun, through the uncertainties. To step out of the natural to the supernatural. You can be sure she was wondering is this going to work, where are we going to live, who is going to pay for this?
Sarah wasn’t perfect, as you continue to read you will see, and neither was Abraham. She tried to intervene in God’s plan and chose her way to continue her husband’s lineage. She had Abraham sleep with her maid servant. We can’t interfere or disrupt God plans for our life and the lives of our family. Even thou she was barren God gave her a promise she had received a divine promise from God. Sometimes we cause ourselves more problems when we take things in our own hands. We can be very resourceful which can be our downfall. We must inquire of the Lord. There have been many times I have cried out to God… help my unbelief!
We can’t take things in our own hands. We bring our own problems at time because we want it NOW! WE push NOW! I think one of the hardest things in Christianity is waiting. Waiting for God to move in our behalf, but be reassured, He is faithful to complete the good work he has started in our lives and He is faithful to his Word and Promises. When our steps are steps of faith there is great Success in Christ.
