Fast: Daniel fast for 24 hours

The POWER of Fasting

As I prepared myself to share this short devotional, I became so excited because I believe in the power of fasting. Fasting has revolutionized my entire life. I’ve seen firsthand what can happen when you not only pray, but you fast. I tell you one thing, it has fueled such a passion in my life, to make fasting more than a calendar event, but a lifestyle!

We have heard it echoed this entire year that “Now Is The Time”.

When I first heard that statement, I knew exactly what God wanted from my life. He desired a deeper relationship with me, one that could only be birthed through prayer and fasting.

I am a firm believer that when we pick up the shovel of humility and we humble ourselves in a lifestyle of prayer and fasting, it moves the church from the pleasure zone to the power zone.

It brings the Spirit of God center stage and gives the Holy Spirit a chance to operate according to His will.

While I was studying, I came across an amazing portion of scripture that I would love to share with you. It is found in Acts 13:1-2, it says

“And in the church that was Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted the Holy Spirit “SAID!”

As they fasted and prayed God began to speak and reveal His plans, which we know does not fail.

Do you need God to speak on your behalf? To bring what is dead back to life? Prayer and fasting gives God an opportunity to do just that!

One of the great benefits of fasting and praying is that the spirit of unbelief is defeated. There is a scripture I found in Hebrews 3:12 “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God”.

When we fast, “We crush the spirit of unbelief”. There is no habit or spiritual weakness that can survive a siege of prayer and fasting.

Below, I listed 3 great things I believe happen when we fast:

First and foremost: Fasting reveals and releases Gods powerful will.

Fasting removes the blindfolds. “Dreamers close their eyes to see, but visionaries see in the spiritual realm.” Fasting takes us into the spiritual realm.

In the late 60’s, our founder Pastor Sonny separated himself in prayer and fasting seeking God for direction, it was during that time that God told him to open a church for drug addicts and their families.

We are products of his prayers and fasting!

Secondly: Fasting revives the gifts and stirs the church for great works.

You might ask yourself after hearing all of this:

Why is fasting so powerful?

Fasting pleases the Spirit of God and lifts up Jesus. When we fast and pray, we lift Jesus who is the head of the church, and as the head is lifted, the body rises with Him.

Fasting creates passion for power!

Ultimately: Fasting releases miracle working power through us. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirits power, so that your faith would not rest upon human wisdom, but in God’s power.”

The world is crying out for power to be released through the church. One can be a Child of God their whole life and never manifest. Never release one miracle. Never win one soul. Never move one mountain. This is not a true reflection of who we are. God is raising up instruments of revival in this hour! It starts when we pray and fast!

I want to take this moment to encourage those of you who are fasting and praying. Many of us have decided to pray bold prayers, ask for Heaven’s backing, and declare the supernatural within our lives.

Believe that when you fast and pray, the impossible becomes possible.

With Love,

Georgina Valdez
